SST Masala Unit
SST Masala Unit is a unique venture of the organization, functioning as a small scale industry to produce and supply various items of masala products such as chilli powder, coriander powder, sambar powder,etc. It primarily benefits persons with disabilities who take up this to hone their vocational skills. The parents of children with disabilities are the key members of this unit who work on a full-time basis by getting orders, going for bulk purchase of raw materials, grinding & powdering the items, packing & supplying to the customers. The sale proceeds goes towards developmental activities of the organization. The Certification obtained from food regulatory body, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and Agmark add credibility to the quality of the products being made at this Unit.
The Production Unit is functioning in Crawford Colony,Trichy producing at an average of 3 tons of masala powders every month bringing out a wide variety of 18 kinds of masala powders. The tasty masalas coming out in colorful packets are in pure quality with absolutely no adulteration.

One of our valued customers is none other than the Government Schools where Tamilnadu Noon Meal Scheme is in operation for whom we supply quality masala powders. In spite of the plastic files getting imported from abroad and flooding the local market, card board files are still much sought after item of stationery for the schools, colleges, hospitals and industries. Keeping the need for the demand of files, low investment & high turnover and easy method of operation, we decided to start File Making Unit at the premises of the Spastics Society.
This File Making Unit empowers persons with disabilities to acquire skills such as corner cutting, eyelet fixing, tag fixing, screen printing etc., and prepares them for suitable jobs in binding & printing work. Students are being paid stipend for the work they do here.

We firmly believe that the vocational units in which we make and supply products should not only be hazard free, conforming to the safety regulations but the product itself should be eco-friendly, promoting cleaner & greener environment to be in perfect harmony with mother nature. This particular idea prompted us to start Jute Products Unit for the benefit of persons with disabilities. Products such as pouch, purse, shoppy bag, conference file etc., are being made in colorful jute materials and supplied to the prospective buyers.
The products are being sold not only on the orders received from prospective customers but also through outlets kept in exhibitions and trade fairs.
Doormat Unit has been functioning in our Musiri Branch as training cum production unit for producing and supplying doormats. Young adults with disabilities and their parents are engaged in the production and supply of these items.
The machinery that we use here is one of handloom-weaving type which may require coordinated movements of hands and legs. Young adults with Intellectual disability can complete one piece of 18 inches x 30 inches size of Doormat at a time duration of 30 minutes. A single piece of multicolor cotton material of Doormat is being sold at Rs. 35/- .
We have started a canteen, Coffee Shop at Trichy Centre, being maintained by young adults with Cerebral Palsy. This will give them an opportunity of preparing snack items as well as beverages like Coffee & Tea. Basic functional academics like reading, writing, time, number, money etc., can also be taught practically through this particular unit.
